At Tickford Mortgages (formerly Mortgage Search Ltd), we believe that finding the right mortgage should be simple, transparent, and personal. Based in the heart of Newport Pagnell, we proudly serve our local community and clients across Milton Keynes and the UK, offering expert mortgage and protection advice built on experience, trust, and genuine care.

Our story began back in 2008, when our founder Adam McGrath started his career in the mortgage industry with Countrywide Mortgage Services, working within the Wilson Peacock and Taylors Estate Agents network. His very first office was right here in Newport Pagnell – the same town where Tickford Mortgages is proudly based today.

After several years advising clients in-branch, Adam joined Lloyds Banking Group as a Mortgage & Protection Adviser and Stage One Underwriter. This unique dual role gave him a rare insight into both sides of the process – helping clients secure the right mortgage, and personally assessing and issuing the mortgage offers. At a time when desktop valuations were common, Adam could take a client from consultation to approved offer in a single meeting – a skill that shaped his deep understanding of what lenders look for and how to structure successful applications.

With that foundation, Adam moved into the whole-of-market mortgage sector, advising clients nationwide and building relationships with a wide range of lenders. This experience refined his approach: combining the precision of an underwriter, the care of an adviser, and the flexibility of a broker who can find the right fit for every client’s circumstances.

In 2022, Adam launched Mortgage Search Ltd, returning to his roots in Newport Pagnell to focus on helping local families and first-time buyers find the right mortgage solutions. The business quickly became known for its personal approach, local knowledge, and long-term relationships with clients and estate agencies across Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.

In 2025, Mortgage Search Ltd began its next chapter as Tickford Mortgages – a name inspired by Tickford Bridge, the iconic iron bridge that has stood strong in Newport Pagnell since 1810.
